'No deadline for CSC on reservation: J&K Gov'

5.26 lakh certificates issued under ST/SC category in Jammu in past 2 years, 67 thousands in Kashmir; 27 thousand certificates under EWS category in Jammu, 2 thousand in Kashmir; 2198 village benefitting from ALC/IB/RBA categories in Jammu, 1245 in Kashmir

The Jammu & Kashmir Government on Monday revealed that no specific timeline has been set-up for the cabinet –sub- committee constituted by it to examine reservation rules.

In a written response to question of Peoples Conference MLA Sajad Gani Lone, the minister in-charge social welfare Sakina Itto informed the House that no specific timeline has been fixed for submitting of the report by CSC.

“The Cabinet Sub Committee stands constituted vide Government order No. 2061- JKGAD of 2024, dated 10.12. 2024 to examine the grievances projected by a section of aspirants for variuous posts regarding reservation rules. 

However, no specific timeline has been fixed for submitting the report, “the minister said.

Lone had asked whether 6-month timeline has been granted to the ministerial panel for submitting the report.

The minister informed the House that 5, 26,6605 certificates under schedule castes and schedule tribe categories have been issued in Jammu region since April 01, 2023 while the number of such certificates issued in Kashmir region during this period is 79813.

The government also revealed that 2198 villages in Jammu are benefitted under Actual Line of Control (ALC, International Border (IB) and Reserved Backward Area (RBA) in Jammu region while the number is 1245 in Kashmir.

The government also revealed that 29963 certificates under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) have been issued in J&K  since April 01, 2023. Of which, 27420 have been issued in Jammu region and mere 2273 in Kashmir region
