J&K Pradesh Youth Congress (JKPYC) took out anti-BJP protest over the Hathras rape-and-murder case, accusing the Narendra Modi government at the Centre of being anti-women.
Led by IYC National Secretary Incharge, Harsimran Kaur Bajwa and General Secretary, Nimrandeep Singh Bhullar, the activists assembled near Main Road Chadwal in district Kathua and raised slogans against the Narendra Modi government as well as the UP Government.
While leading the protest, Harsimran Kaur Bajwa said that the UP government has failed in maintaining law and order in the state and claimed that rape and murder cases are happening every day.
Bajwa attacked the government over the incident, saying the class-specific jungle raj of UP has killed another young woman. She hit out at the Yogi Adityanath government, alleging there is no semblance of security for women in the state. She said the incident has given rise to nationwide outrage and blamed the UP government for not providing adequate healthcare to victims and justice to her. “The UP Govt failed to save the gang rape victim and delivering justice to her as she was cremated in dark night,” Bajwa said.
Bajwa said that holding peaceful protests is the democratic right of every citizen of the nation and the BJP government has barred the same from time to time and muted the voice of people.
Nimrandeep Singh Bhullar, while protesting, said that Rahul Gandhi was manhandled in a peaceful protest despite his pleas to UP Police. “Seems like the police have become the puppet of BJP, PM Modi has to answer to the people of nation as to why the Dalit girl was denied justice even after death.”
Bhullar alleged that for eight days no gang rape charges were pressed in the matter and only after the media reported it, the police registered a case.
Claiming that there is no law and order in UP, he alleged the police are hand in glove with criminals and the government extends them political patronage.
The protesters also dared the Union Minister Smriti Irani to give "bangles" to PM Narendra Modi just like she wanted to send to former PM Manmohan Singh during the UPA regime in 2013.
“We request Smriti Irani to recall her previous statement and give some bangles to PM Modi. If she does not recall her words, Youth Congress activists will send bangles to Irani mainly to remind her of her previous statement,” they said.
Among those who joined the protest included Secretary JKPYC Brinder Pratap Singh, Divyansh Singh Jamwal, DYC President Samba Sushil Bhagat, Assembly President Samba Sumit Bhagat, AYC President Kathua Gagandeep, Mamta Devi, Pushpa Kumari, Renu Devi and Rita Kumari.
