'IIM Jammu Students Join J&K Delegation in Grand Welcome at NITTR Chennai Under Yuva Sangam Phase V'

Under the prestigious Yuva Sangam Phase-V initiative, part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) program under the Ministry of Education, Govt of India, a delegation of 29 students from Jammu and Kashmir, including Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu students, accompanied by two IIM Jammu faculty members Dr. Harsha Jariwala, Dr. Jaganth.G, reached Chennai to participate in a week-long cultural and educational exchange program under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu. This initiative fosters cultural understanding, knowledge sharing, and national unity among the youth of India.

The diverse delegation included 15 male and 11 female students, showcasing the vibrant representation of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth. The program commenced with a warm welcome and an overview of Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage, setting the tone for an engaging series of activities.

The inaugural event was graced by Professor. Usha Natesan, Director, NITTTR Chennai, who warmly welcomed the delegates. Distinguished faculty members from both institutions, including Prof. G. Janardhanan, Dean, Academics and Research and Nodal Officer for Yuva Sangam 2024, and IIM Jammu faculty team composed of Dr. Harsha Jariwala and Dr. Jaganth G was present to mark the occasion. Professor. Malliga, Professor & Head, Department of CSE along with Professor. G. Kulanthaivel, Department of ECE & Institute Function Coordinator formally welcomed the delegates.

Participants were introduced to the rich heritage of Tamil Nadu through a captivating video presentation followed by an overview of the planned activities delivered by Professor. G. Janardhanan.

Key Highlights of the Program:

Cultural and Heritage Exploration: Delegates visited key landmarks such as Kalaignarulagam–Kalaignar Memorial Museum, gaining insights into Tamil Nadu’s history and culture.

Culinary and Social Exchange: A cultural dinner at the International Guest House provided a platform for students to experience Tamil Nadu’s culinary delights and foster connections.

Visit to Auroville Foundation, Pondicherry: Delegates will explore the globally renowned Auroville Foundation, learning about its ethos of sustainable living and universal harmony on December 21, 2024.
Excursions to Iconic Sites:

Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu Government Museum, Besant Nagar Beach, and Astalakshmi Temple on December 22, 2024.

SRM University’s sports facilities and ASA Archaeological sites in Kancheepuram on December 23, 2024.

Chennai Airforce Station, Tambaram, and TANCAM to gain insights into technological advancements on December 24, 2024.

Crocodile Park and Dakshin Chitra to explore ecological and cultural diversity on December 25, 2024.

The delegation’s visit reflects IIM Jammu’s commitment to holistic student development, aligning with its mission to nurture socially responsible leaders. By participating in the Yuva Sangam initiative, IIM Jammu strengthens its efforts to build bridges across cultures, instilling a sense of national pride and unity among its students.


The enriching journey, packed with cultural exploration, academic exchange, and social learning, underscores IIM Jammu’s dedication to the vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’ The delegation will return to Jammu on December 26, 2024, bringing back invaluable experiences and memories to cherish.
