Three residential houses were gutted in a blaze in the Chattabal area of Srinagar city on Saturday morning.
A Fire and Emergency Services official told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that fire broke out at a house in the Danawari locality of Chattabal. He said three houses along with goods were damaged in the incident. The official added that, besides the three houses, a fourth house also suffered indirect damage.
“The intensity of the fire was very high. Fire tenders from Syed Hamid Pora, MR Gunj, Safakadal, Batamaloo, and Gawkadal were pressed to service to douse the flames,” the official said adding that fire was put out after hard efforts put by firefightes.
The official said that 8 families were putting up in these 3 houses. He identified the fire victims as Ghulam Muhammad Bhat, Muhammad Shafi Bhat, Abdul Hamid Bhat, Abdul Rashid Bhat, Abdul Rehman Shah, Mahjabeena Nazir, Mushtaq Ahmed Khan and Nazir Ahmed Khan.
A police official said that a case has been registered in this regard and the cause of the fire is being ascertained.
Meanwhile, police and civil administration officials visited the spot and assured all possible help to the victims.
