Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary carried out surprise visits to PWD Office in Panama Chowk and Gandhi Nagar Hospital on Thursday, taking stock of their operations and interacted with staff and patients to evaluate the facilities’ performance.
According to reports, during his visit to the PWD Office, the Deputy CM noted that 70% of the employees, including some senior officials, were absent from their duties. “I was shocked to see the lack of discipline in the office. The employees were not present, and I was misled by others with applications from the absent staff. This level of negligence is unacceptable, and I had no choice but to suspend them,” Choudhary said. Taking immediate action, the Deputy CM has summoned the Chief Engineer to the Secretariat for further explanations. Choudhary then proceeded to Gandhi Nagar Hospital, where he toured various departments and interacted with patients to understand their concerns and feedback. He also met with the medical staff, who briefed him on the hospital’s day-to-day challenges, achievements, and functioning. Patients expressed their appreciation for the Deputy CM’s proactive visit, with one patient in the outpatient department stating, “It’s reassuring to see top authority in the government taking a direct interest in our well-being.” The visit was widely seen as an encouraging step in addressing public healthcare concerns.
Choudhary highlighted the importance of efficient healthcare services and assured that any gaps in infrastructure or resources would be addressed promptly. He also commended the hospital staff for their dedication and encouraged them to continue providing high-quality care to the public.
