The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has refunded tax (tax) of Rs 1,49,297 crore to more than 1.45 crore taxpayers during April 1 to December 27.
The Income Tax Department informed by tweeting on Tuesday that CBDT has issued refunds of Rs 1,49,297 crore to more than 1.45 crore taxpayers during April 1 to December 27, 2021. The department tweeted that 1.42 crore units have been refunded Rs 50,793 crore under income tax refund. Similarly, corporate tax of Rs 98,504 crore has been refunded in 2.19 lakh cases.
The department said that in the current financial year, CBDT has so far issued tax refunds worth Rs 1.49 lakh crore to more than 1.45 crore taxpayers. This also includes refunds of Rs 1.07 crore of Rs 21,021 crore issued for assessment year 2021-22 (financial year ended March 31, 2021). At the same time, more than 4.67 crore taxpayers have filed income tax returns for the financial year 2020-21 till December 27.
