Union Home Minister Amit Shah has paid tribute to Hari Singh, the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir, on his birth anniversary, describing him as a symbol of nationalism. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid true tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh by declaring his birth anniversary as a state holiday.

Shah tweeted on Friday, saying, "I bow to the symbol of nationalism Maharaja Hari Singh ji on his birth anniversary. To remember his efforts to make Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India and to keep the integrity of the country intact. By declaring a state holiday, Modi ji has paid a true tribute to him."
