In Jammu and Kashmir, the political fate of 873 candidates contesting for the 90 member Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly will be announced tomorrow when the counting of votes will be held at 20 voting centers across J&K. Elaborate arrangements have been made for the counting in the Union Territory. Stringent security arrangements have been put in place at all the district headquarters, where counting centers are set-up. In the first layer are troops of the Central Armed Police Force, in the second layer are guarded by State Armed Police, and in the third layer are troops of district police. At both strong rooms and counting halls DySP level officers will supervise security arrangements. Only those with proper identification cards will be permitted to enter the counting centers. The elections pave the way for the formation of the first elected government in J&K following the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35-A in 2019. The second randomization of counting staff for the Assembly Constituencies across 10 districts of Jammu division was successfully conducted yesterday in preparation for the counting scheduled for tomorrow. The process was carried out under the supervision of respective District Election Officers of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar, where counting for 43 assembly seats will be conducted. The randomization was conducted using dedicated software, strictly adhering to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, ensuring fairness and impartiality in the selection of counting personnel. To maintain complete transparency, the video of the entire procedure was recorded. The District Election Officers (DEOs) highlighted that adequate arrangements have been made to equip the staff with the necessary knowledge and orientation to ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of the counting process. The UT Government orders closure of three educational institutes in Jammu district for vote counting. These three educational institutes will remain closed for three days from today onwards as they will serve as venues for vote counting for the recently concluded Legislative Assembly elections. The institutions include Padamshree Padma Sachdev College for Women, Gandhi Nagar; Govt MAM College, Jammu and Govt Polytechnic College, Bikram Chowk, Jammu.
