'Quad countries condemn terrorism in all its forms'

Security Dialogue Forum (Quad) leaders of the Indo-Pacific region have expressed concern over the security situation in Afghanistan, condemning terrorism in all its forms.

In a joint statement issued after the Quad summit held in Japan's capital Tokyo on Tuesday, 26/11 and the Pathankot attacks were condemned.

The joint statement said that the Quad countries expressly condemn terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations. At the same time, we reiterate that there can be no justification for acts of terrorism on any ground.

The statement condemned the behind-the-scenes terrorism without naming Pakistan. It states that logistics, finance or military assistance to terrorist groups for cross-border terror must cease.

Expressing concern over the security situation in Afghanistan, the Quad countries said that we also reaffirm UNSC resolution 2593 (2021). It demands that Afghan territory should never be used again to threaten or attack any country, or to harbor or train terrorists, or to plan or finance terrorist attacks.

The Quad emphasizes the importance of maintaining international standards on combating the financing of terrorism by all countries in line with the recommendations of the FATF.
