'Never indulged in anti-party activities: Syed Akhoon ‘congratulates’ father-son duo'

Syed Mohammad Akhoon, a veteran leader expelled from the National Conference, has broken his silence. Akhoon alleged that a few party leaders conspired against him, leading to his expulsion.

"I was the torchbearer of the party, always lifting the party flag high," Akhoon told the news agency Kashmir News Trust. He congratulated Ali Muhammad Sagar and his son Salman Ali Sagar, for orchestrating his removal.

Akhoon expressed disappointment over the party's preference for bureaucrats over senior leaders. "I dedicated 52 years to the party, and I didn't expect this treatment," he said, referencing the party's decision to nominate a bureaucrat as provincial president.

Regarding allegations of anti-party activities, Akhoon clarified, "I never indulged in such actions. The claim that I helped Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar in Ganderbal is baseless." He emphasized that his workers can attest to his loyalty.

Akhoon revealed that his workers were upset when he directed them to support party candidate Salman Sagar in Hazaratbal. "I honored the party's decision and ensured my workers voted for Sagar. His victory wouldn't have been possible without my support, yet the party showed no mercy,” he said.
