'Helicopter services open for tourists to travel in Ladakh'

Helicopter services are now open for tourists to travel in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The first batch of tourists took advantage of this heli-service on Tuesday.



Officials said the first batch of tourists took a helicopter ride here on Tuesday. He said that the helicopter services operated by the administration would be available to the local people and tourists in all areas of the Union Territory.



The rates have been notified by the administration for the residents of Ladakh to avail the service as per the order of the Civil Aviation Department of Ladakh.



The order said that persons desirous of booking on notified routes can book tickets online.



He said that a separate booking mechanism has been made available on the portal for passengers other than residents of Ladakh. Ticket availability will depend on the number of passengers, weather conditions or any other operational restrictions.



He said the administration has opened services with two helicopters, a five-seater B-3 helicopter and a larger Mi-172. He said the services would initially cover Leh, Kargil, Padum, Lingshed, Dibling, Nerak, Diskit, Turtuk, Srinagar and Jammu.
