The Meteorological Department on Friday predicted snowfall in the higher reaches along with heavy rains and thunderstorms at most places in Jammu and Kashmir till the weekend.



An official of the Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of hailstorm in the plains on March 24 and 25. Strong winds can blow with thunder. Rain is likely to start from afternoon (March 24).



The meteorological department has also urged farmers to suspend spraying in orchards while commuters intending to travel on the highway and other hilly areas have been asked to confirm road conditions with the concerned traffic police before starting their journey.



Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 5.3 degrees Celsius as against the previous night's 5.2 degrees Celsius. Qazigund recorded a low of 4.0 degree Celsius as against last night's 3.2 degree Celsius.
