The play of the third day of the rescheduled fifth Test match between India and England being played at Edgbaston has come to an end. India scored 125 for three in their second innings. Chateshwar Pujara 50 and Rishabh Pant 30 runs at the crease.

India had scored 416 runs in their first innings and bowled out England for 284 runs in the first innings. This gave India a lead of 132 runs. In this sense, India's total lead in the second innings is now 257 runs.

India's second innings did not start well. Shubman Gill was caught by Jonny Bairstow at slip off Anderson's delivery in the very first over. Gill could only score four runs. After this, Chateshwar Pujara along with Hanuma Vihari carried forward the innings, but Vihari also could not stay on the field for long. Vihari got out after scoring 11 runs. Virat Kohli, who came to bat after Vihari's dismissal, once again failed to play a big innings. Kohli got out after scoring 20 runs. After this Pujara along with Rishabh Pant handled the innings. Together, both of them took the team's score beyond 100. Pujara scored a half-century in the last over of the third day. He scored a half-century in 139 balls. In this way, till the end of the day's play, India have scored 125 runs for three wickets and India's total lead has become 257 runs.
