'Central University of Jammu Organised Special Lecture on “Empowering the Future: National Security and the Emerging Role of Young Voters”'

The Office of Dean Students’ Welfare and the Department of National Security Studies (NSS) at the Central University of Jammu (CUJ), under the patronage of hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, jointly organised a Special lecture on the theme “Chunav Ka Parv, Desh Ka Gaurav”. The lecture titled "Empowering the Future: National Security and the Emerging Role of Young Voters” was delivered by Lt. General Rakesh Kumar Sharma, AVSM, SM (Retd), and Squadron Leader Anil Sehgal (Retd).

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Head of the Department, NSS and Dean of Students’ Welfare, CUJ.

Lt. Gen Rakesh Kumar Sharma delivered an enlightening discourse on National Security and the role of young voters. He explained the various dimensions of National Security and how it affects and translates to conflict. He also clarified the concept of Comprehensive National Power and India’s capability to counter wars. The speaker emphasized the role of young voters as responsible citizens in India's path to becoming a Viksit Bharat.

Special Remarks by Squadron Leader Anil Sehgal (Retd.) offered insights into the lecture's relevance within the context of Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar Sharma’s message. He emphasised the political will and wisdom of strong government and the role of civilians in contributing towards National Security. The role of voters to give confidence to a strong government by voting wisely was highlighted.

The Q&A session, moderated by Dr. Anuradha Choudhary, was interactive and engaging for faculty, students, and scholars from various departments.

Dr. R. Sudhakar, Associate Professor and the event coordinator delivered a Vote of Thanks. Other members of the organizing committee included Dr. Neeta Rani, Associate Professor, and Dr. Ekta Manhas, Assistant Professor. The event proceedings were capably hosted by Ms. Abhigya Langeh, a doctoral student of the department.
