Continuing its efforts to rein in the menace of drugs from the society, Budgam Police recovered charas like substance from the house of a narcotics smuggler in Mazhama Magam area of district Budgam. Acting on an information that one Shabir Ahmad Sofi son of Abdul Khaliq Sofi resident of Mazhama has concealed a huge quantity of narcotic substance in his house, the police team from Police Station Magam along with Executive Magistrate raided the specific house and conducted the search.
During search, police party was able to recover 01KG & 250 grams of Charas like substance and rupees 01 lakh 29,000/= (proceeds of narcotics sale) which was concealed in a specially built secret cabin inside the wooden wardrobe. Accused drug smuggler has been arrested from the spot.
A Case FIR number 67/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Magam & investigation taken up. More recoveries and arrests are expected.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
