'blasphemy law became a weapon of atrocities on hindus in pakistan'

The biggest weapon of atrocities on Hindus in Pakistan is the blasphemy law. Incidents of atrocities, forced conversions and murders on minorities, including Hindus, are happening continuously in the country. The blasphemy law has emerged as the biggest weapon to inflict atrocities on minorities in the country. Recently, in a fake case related to this in Hyderabad, Ashok Kumar of the Hindu community was not only targeted by a violent mob but also arrested by the police.

According to the Pakistan Human Rights Commission, in 2021, 585 people were arrested on charges of blasphemy across the country. More than 100 cases were registered against the religious Ahmadiyya community on religious grounds. Of these, three minorities were put to death.

Cases of forced conversions have tripled in Punjab province. In 2020, 13 such incidents were recorded in 2021. Cases of conversion were also reported in different areas of Sindh last year and Hindus and Christians have become the most victims.

According to human rights experts, there has been an increase in atrocities against minority families, including Hindus, by radical Muslims in Pakistan. Incidents of abduction and marriage of Hindu girls have also increased in the last few years. Apart from this, the incidents of honor killing are increasing.

According to the figures of the Pakistan Human Rights Commission, more than 450 cases of honor killings were reported in 2021. Between 2004 and 2016, 15,222 cases of honor killings were registered.

People working on human rights in Pakistan say that the biggest reason for honor killing here is the Jirga system i.e. Panchayat. This system is supported by the government. These panchayats give inhuman orders. Jirga system is promoting crime against women in Pakistan. In June 2002, the local jirga of Muzaffargarh in the southern Punjab district had ruled to gang-rape Mukhtaran Mai.
