Senior BJP leader and the party's J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur today criticized the Omar Abdullah-led government for its slow response to the ongoing snow crisis in the Valley.
In a statement here, Thakur accused the government of failing to clear link roads promptly and fully restore essential services such as power and water, leaving residents to suffer in freezing conditions.
The BJP leader said that while main roads were being prioritized, interior roads and link roads in rural areas and also in Srinagar remain buried under heavy snow, cutting off vital access for many communities. "The government has shown complete disregard for the plight of common people, who are left stranded without proper connectivity," Thakur said.
Highlighting the power outages and disrupted water supply across the Valley, Thakur called the government's efforts inadequate. "People are shivering in darkness in many parts and struggling to secure basic necessities like water and yet the administration has not acted decisively to address these issues," he said.
Thakur urged the government to ramp up snow-clearing operations and expedite the restoration of essential services. He also called for accountability, stating that "residents deserve better preparedness and responsiveness from the government in times of crisis.
