'Bharat Jodo Yatra will reach Kashmir this evening'

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra started from Banihal on Friday morning after a day's rest. It is likely to enter Kashmir by evening. Passing through various districts of Jammu and Kashmir, the yatra entered Ramban district on January 25.

The yatra had to be halted at Chandrakot on Wednesday due to landslides between Ramban and Banihal. After this, the yatra proceeded from Ramban amid rains, but returned back to Chandrakot due to road closure at Banihal.

After resting on Republic Day, the yatra left for Srinagar via Banihal. In view of the yatra, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been diverted at several places for traffic. The yatra is to conclude on January 30 at the Shere-e-Kashmir ground in Srinagar. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh has said that many people from the Valley in Anantnag and Srinagar districts will join the yatra.
