All parties except JDU want a review of prohibition

'All parties except JDU want a review of prohibition'

It has been six years since the liquor prohibition law came into force in Bihar, but its effect is not visible. After a few days of strictness of the administration, the situation returns to the same path. In view of this, all political parties, except JDU, want a review of the prohibition law and the status of its implementation.

According to official figures, a total of 66 people died due to spurious liquor in 2021 last year. The death of 11 people in Nitish's home district of Nalanda earlier this year has once again sparked a debate on the law.

Except Janata Dal United (JDU), all the other parties are unanimous about the review of the prohibition law in the state. All of them say that by adopting the Gujarat model, the prohibition law will be successful to a great extent. BJP, playing the role of elder brother and partner in Bihar's power, has questioned the Nitish government's prohibition law after the death of 11 people in Nalanda. Party's state president Sanjay Jaiswal has said that the entire family of those who have died due to drinking spurious liquor will be sent to jail. Jaiswal alleges that the administration itself has met the liquor mafia. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should tell who is benefiting from the prohibition of liquor. Only the liquor mafia is buzzing in it. Jaiswal also says that in the Patna High Court, 15 judges only deal with the case on prohibition of liquor, due to which the rest of the cases remain pending. How will people get justice in other cases? He suggested the Chief Minister to hold an all-party meeting with the constituents and opposition parties of his government on prohibition of liquor. Discuss prohibition and then make a decision. It is very necessary now.

RJD entry spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari said that now the BJP is also raising questions on the government regarding the prohibition of liquor. Sanjay Jaiswal is questioning the Nitish government that liquor is available on a large scale in Nalanda. When liquor is found in the Chief Minister's home district, then Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is responsible for it. Tiwari said that the Chief Minister should resign. When such poisonous liquor is dying in his home district and the BJP is blaming the Chief Minister, then the people of Bihar need to get rid of the NDA.

We party supremo and former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi, a partner in the government, raised questions on Nitish Kumar's obstinate attitude towards this law. He has said that the Chief Minister should consider that when the Prime Minister can withdraw the Agriculture Act, why can't the Bihar government take back the prohibition law?

Jap President Pappu Yadav reached Nalanda to meet the families of the victims. 10-10 thousand rupees were also given to all the victims' families. During this Pappu Yadav attacked Nitish Kumar. He said that the matters of public interest have been forgotten in Bihar. Only liquor remains a discussion in Bihar.

In the year 2021, 13 cases of drinking spurious liquor were reported in Bihar. Of these, 66 people died. In the month of November alone, 18 people in Gopalganj district and 17 in West Champaran lost their lives due to spurious liquor. After some time his health started deteriorating. He was taken to the hospital after developing stomach irritation and foaming from his mouth. There 10 died. By the next day, the death toll had reached 18.

Bihar was shaken by the Khajurbani scandal

A few months after the implementation of the prohibition law, the Khajurbani incident in Gopalganj created a ruckus. On Independence Day 2016, 19 people died due to spurious liquor in Khajurbani of Nagar police station. 12 people had lost their eyesight. In this case, for the first time, the court sentenced someone to death in a liquor case. A total of nine were sentenced to death and four to life imprisonment.
