Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said on Friday that 99 percent of TB patients in the country have got people's support. Steps are being taken steadily towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for a TB-free India.
He said that the total number of TB patients registered in the country is 13 lakh 50 thousand 808. Out of which nine lakh 85 thousand 287 patients have shown their consent to take help under the scheme of the central government. Out of these, 9 lakh 84 thousand 237 patients have been adopted under the Nikshay Mitra scheme.
It is noteworthy that the Nikshay Mitra scheme was launched on 9 September under the Prime Minister's TB Free India Campaign. Within 14 days, 99 percent of TB patients in the country have been adopted. The central government has set a target of eradicating TB from the country by the year 2025.
