In Jammu and Kashmir, over 10.39 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the initial two hours of polling in the 5-Jammu Parliamentary Constituency in a peaceful manner. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that till 9 AM 13.53 % polling was reported in 56-Gulabgarh (ST), 14.13% in 57-Reasi, 12.72% in 58-Mata Vaishno Devi, 1.53% in 69-Ramgarh (SC), 8.56% in 70-Samba, 12.30 % in 71-Vijaypur, 11.44% in 72-Bishnah (SC), 5.67% in 73-Schetgarh (SC), 8.17% in 74-R.S Pura Jammu South, 10.46% in 75-Bahu, 10.26% in 76-Jammu East, 12.27% in 77-Nagrota, 9.37% in 78-Jammu West, 10.93% in 79-Jammu North, 12.31% in 80-Marh (SC), 14.24% in 81-Akhnoor, 10.52% in 82-Chhamb and 11.00% in 83-Kalakote-Sunderbani assembly segments. Long queues witnessed exercising their franchise across the constituency with enthusiasm, especially among the new voters amid tight security arrangements. Across various assembly segments of the parliamentary constituency, voters were seen standing in queues much ahead of the scheduled time for polling. Earlier, mock poll was conducted successfully in all the polling stations.
